What Color Suits You? A guide to the most universally flattering swimsuit colors.

Let's get real for a moment, most of us have some level of insecurity especially when it comes to swimsuits.  Instead of chasing the latest trend in swim wear, I'm going to give you some tips on the most universally flattering swimsuits colors for any body type.

Black but you already knew that so we will look at a few others that might be surprising to you.

1. Blue is a great alternative to black! There are so many shades of blue that you will be sure to find one that compliments your skin tone. Darker blue's like Navy will help disguise your problem areas while lighter shades of blue will make you stand out.

2. Red demands attention, this color is simple yet sophisticated. The contrast between skin tones is quite flattering.

4. White is chic and classic and it suits any body type. Oh so you think I'm crazy on this one, there is a method to the madness girl.  If you are thinner make sure to rock a suit with less fabric and revealing cuts this will make you look even smaller.  For my fuller babes AVOID high waisted bottoms and instead you want a suit with tie sides or a flip-bottom (bikini).  Not sure about white?  Go for a color block with white.  Choose white on your most flattering body part and go for a darker shade on the least flattering.  White top, black bottoms or vice versa.

4. Pink I said it!!  Most people either hate it or love. Well I'm here to tell you it's another flattering color on the majority of body types and skin tones, especially neon pink!!  Not only does neon pick exude confidence but it will enhance skin tone giving off a more tan appearance. Do you really want to stand out go for a neon pink bikini top and choose a neon yellow or orange bottom to complement.

5.  Prints what can we say, it depends.  The size and placement of different shapes and colors can make it or break it. Darker shades will minimize body parts/areas, straight lines will emphasize, and large prints will accentuate.  If you are trying to hide your belly then you wouldn't buy a suit that has significant patterns or shapes on your waistline since it will draw attention in.

  • Want to accentuate your bust?  Find a suit with horizontal lines in the chest area.
  • Need to create a slimming effect?  Asymmetrical lines and angles create an illusion.
  • Patterns, think animal print, polka dots etc, can create curves for those who don't have any or others who just feel like emphasizing their assists.

Make sure you choose suits that are lined, no one wants any surprises, it's embarrassing and not attractive.
